As the nation prepares to celebrate the jubilee, students at Peterborough and Stamford Colleges, part of the Inspire Education Group, support The Queen’s Green Canopy, a unique tree-planting initiative encouraging everyone to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
A tree planting ceremony took place at each campus, in which Air and Defence students and members of the IEG Green Group, planted a native Silver Birch, and unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.
The plaques we commissioned were made by veterans in conjunction with Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company, a social enterprise providing employment to military veterans enabling them to master new skills and readjust to civilian life.
In addition to supporting worthwhile causes, IEG’s involvement in The Queen’s Green Canopy has enabled them to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee as an institution, and supported their IEG Green Plan and focus on improving the natural environment at the College’s three sites for future generations.
Another fantastic example of Inspire Education groups commitment to sustainability, and their strive to make a positive contribution to the prosperity and wellbeing of the diverse communities we work alongside.
