University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art, Design & Communications students of Stamford College, part of Inspire Education Group, will showcase their talent in the ‘One World Week’ exhibition, hosted at the Stamford Arts Centre from the 23rd to the 28th of October 2023.
Organised by the Stamford Fairtrade Group, the exhibition explores profound messages of human rights to life, liberty, work, and education, and freedom of expression, religion and protest. Featured art includes that produced by local students, and a collection of black and white photographs from the Ukraine frontline, provided by Stamford Diversity Group.
Second-year Stamford College student, Laura Reynolds, had her oil painting, entitled ‘Long Lost Friend’ (above), selected for display in the gallery. They shared, “My project draws inspiration from my friend who was denied the freedom to be and love who she wanted to. I have put a lot of work into this piece and am very proud to have it on display. I hope my friend will see it and understand how much she means to me”.
Tom Coulthard, Lecturer in Art & Design at Stamford College, shared, “We are immensely proud of our students. Having their art showcased in a public gallery is testament to the hard work and dedication they put into their studies. Each individual has shared a thought-provoking, profound message through their art, and I’d encourage everyone in the local area to explore this exhibition!”.
Stamford Arts Centre is open Monday to Saturday, from 8:30am. Closing times are defined by the event schedule, but generally not before 8pm. For more information, please visit the Stamford Arts Centre website.
