Coinciding with the College’s Open Evening, Stamford College, part of Inspire Education Group (IEG), hosted an Apprenticeships Employer Recruitment Fair, enabling hundreds of young people from the local area to learn about work-based training programmes.
Gaining industry-relevant experience with employers is an essential part of the student journey for all those enrolled at Stamford and Peterborough Colleges, and over 400 learners opt for the apprenticeship route each year. Apprenticeships combine on-the-job training with formal learning opportunities in College, with apprentices gaining both a nationally-recognised qualification, and sought-after experience.
Based in the Conference Centre, IEG staff from the Apprenticeships Academy, T-Levels and Work Experience departments, as well as representatives of IEG partners, Anglia Professional Training (APT) and inspire+, were on-hand to offer advice and guidance and to explain the apprenticeship enrolment process. External exhibitors included Howdens, Allison Homes and Countryside Partnerships, giving visitors the opportunity to gain valuable advice from experts in their chosen profession.
Paul Ward, Apprenticeships Development Manager at Inspire Education Group, said, “It was absolutely brilliant having the support of employers at the recent Stamford College Open Evening. The Apprenticeship interest from parents and youngsters is always high, and it was great having the employers there to talk about opportunities within their sectors. A huge thank you to all of the employers that so passionately supported the evening”.
