Leia Ankers, a former photography student from Stamford College, has won the Equal Lens ‘Joy Through A Lens’ competition. An award on this scale is a pivotal moment for Leia, significantly enhancing her future career prospects.
In response to the brief of creating a picture celebrating joy from a cultural perspective, Leia submitted a photo from her series ‘The Same As You’, titled Cordelia, which went on display at the Proud Galleries in London.
Leia completed Level 3 Photography and FDA Creative and Editorial Photography at Stamford College, and it was clear, with her natural creative flair, unique style, understanding concepts and dedication to her studies, from the start that she had a promising future.
Leia said, “I had a wonderful experience in the Art block of Stamford College. Starting from such little knowledge to progressing to the FDA course introducing and guiding me to finding my love for image-making, documentary photography specifically. I will be forever grateful to the lecturers and would not change a thing about my experience on these courses.”
