Stamford College Celebrated Apprenticeship Week with Princebuild

Over the last 10 years, New College Stamford has continued to build its relationships with local and highly acclaimed construction company, Princebuild Ltd. In 2010, Princebuild employed their first Apprentice from New College Stamford which, since then has risen to 15 Apprentices working for the company in both mechanical and electrical trades.

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, a week which celebrates the diversity and value of apprenticeships, Princebuild have recruited 6 new apprentices with a further 8 vacancies currently open across multiple trades.

Paul Ward, Apprenticeship Development Manager at New College Stamford said,

“Our partnership with Princebuild has gone from strength to strength. They offer our Apprentices a fantastic training programme which can lead to a long-term career with the company. The Apprentices are provided with a superb kit including a works mobile phone and once qualified at Level 2, plumbing apprentices are also provided with a works van.

In addition to this, Princebuild are very proactive in encouraging young people in to construction related careers and have always been keen to support a number of college career and recruitment events.”

In partnership with the South Lincolnshire Group Training Association (SLGTA) and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), Princebuild supported the college’s annual Construction Skills Event which gave local secondary and primary school students the opportunity to “have a go” at a variety of traditional, technical and professional trades.

Over six hundred young people attend the event each year and all go home with an insight into the diverse roles available in the construction industry.

Princebuild also has 16 fully qualified CITB Construction Ambassadors designated to inspire young people into the industry, whether that’s by leading site visits, attending career fairs or by mentoring somebody considering a career in construction.

We are thrilled to have built such a strong relationship with Princebuild, an inspiring employer who puts training and development of both their employees at the heart of their company. The involvement with training schemes and continued support of the local community is aspirational and we hope to continue our relationship for years to come.
