This week saw New College Stamford Students compete in a variety on competitions that are part of the Inter-College Competitions initiative.
The Construction event was hosted by us and saw our students compete against Grantham, Boston and Peterborough Regional College students. The students got the chance to compete in a variety of categories under the umbrella banner of Construction. There was a competition for a couple of levels in each category including plumbing, carpentry, electrical and bricklaying. Once the judges had seen the completed work from the students, they then decided who was the winner and they were awarded prizes. Everyone who took part in the event didmd leave empty handed by receiving a certificate to say they had taken part. New College stamford students performed extremely well managing to win one 1st place and then six 2nd and 3rd place finishes which is a great achievement.
Richard Brickwood Head of the Construction department said “The event this year has been absolutely fantastic. The level of work on display was probably the highest it’s ever been. The students have put so much time and effort in and they have all had a brilliant day. These types of events are made so the students can meet and learn from other students and bring together a family, and this year has been a real success!”
Once again, thanks to all the staff and students that participated and organised this event, without them it wouldn’t be able to happen.
