Students were delighted to find a Steinway Boudoir Grand Piano taking pride of place in the music studio after the family of Elizabeth Grenfell honoured her wishes for her beloved piano to be donated to aspiring musicians.
It was important to Elizabeth that her grand piano, which was a gift from her father, continued to enable future musicians to develop, learn and come together to share their united passion for music, and what better place than Stamford College Music department.
Music was a lifelong love for Elizabeth Grenfell, who regularly accompanied musicians at the Grantham Festival, played the organ at Lenton Church, supported the local school and provided music tuition to many individuals in the area. And through this wonderful donation we are proud to be part of her legacy.
We are most grateful to the Grenfell family for entrusting such a prized possession into our care. It will be cherished by hundreds of students in the decades to come and become an integral part of many future musicians’ stories.
It is evident in this impromptu recording how much this donation means to our music students already, who immediately jumped at the chance to break into a song they have recently written and produced.
Once again, thank you to Elizabeth and the Grenfell family for their generous donation.
