Former Fashion Student Nominated for British Fashion Award!!

Former Fashion student Eden Loweth has been nominated for a British Fashion Award!

Eden and his partner ‘Tom Barratt’ have been nominated in the category of British Emerging Talent Menswear for their label ‘ART SCHOOL’ at the British Fashion Councils 2018 Fashion Awards.

They describe their brand as ‘a unisex label based in London, focused on redefining the limitations of ready to wear gendered fashion’.

‘Directed by the creative partnership of Eden Loweth and Tom Barratt, the label is informed by the designers’ backgrounds as fashion and art criticism graduates respectively. They have worked with some of the most prominent emerging designers of the time including LVMH prize winner Grace Wales Bonner. Art school is a platform for the designers to express their collective ideas both in art and design using luxury fashion as a communicative tool to explore contemporary queerness. The label is informed by the founders and their friends non-binary gender identities’.

The winners of each category will be announced on Monday 10th December at The Fashion Awards 2018 at the Royal Albert Hall . The event will be attended by over 4000 guests and feature some of the biggest names in fashion and popular culture from all over the world.

This isn’t Eden’s first success either, we have featured Eden multiple times before, including when the The Sunday Times Style Magazine labelled him one of ‘British fashion’s brightest talents’ in 2016. He also showcased his work at London’s Graduate Fashion Week, and starred in a fabulous feature in leading glossy fashion magazine, LOVE, which has featured the likes of Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie, Georgia May Jagger, Kendall Jenner.

His British Fashion Award nomination means he also now has the opportunity to open the British Fashion week in January which is being held at the Truman Brewery. This is outstanding, and is clearly a recognition of the work that Eden and their brand ‘Art School’ is creating.

Rachael Cooper who was Eden’s teacher when he studied at New College Stamford said, “When I found out about Eden’s achievement and he contacted me about this amazing opportunity, I was absolutely thrilled! He was a fantastic student when he studied at New College Stamford and I knew that he always had the capabilities to take him all the way to the very top. The type of work he is creating is so ground-breaking and so unique that it’s easy to see why he is receiving all the accolades and opportunities he is.”

Everyone at New College Stamford would like to wish Eden and Tom the best of luck with their up-coming exhibitions, we will hopefully welcome him back early next year to talk to our current cohort of students to pass on useful information, advice and guidance to the next group of fashion designers.
