Course overview

This course is ide­al for you if you wish to pur­sue a career in the Sci­ence indus­try. The pur­pose of the T Lev­el (tech­ni­cal qual­i­fi­ca­tion), is to ensure you have the knowl­edge and skills need­ed to progress into skilled employ­ment, high­er-lev­el tech­ni­cal train­ing or a uni­ver­si­ty pro­gramme with­in the sci­ence sector.This course offers you an attrac­tive alter­na­tive to A Lev­els and appren­tice­ships. An indus­try-based work place­ment is required to run along­side your course, this must be a min­i­mum of 315 hours and will fur­ther rein­force your new­ly learned skills and offer a true insight into the sci­ence industry.

 

Entry Require­ments

5 GCSEs at grades 4/C or above includ­ing Eng­lish Lan­guage, Maths. Or a grade A in a rel­e­vant Lev­el 2 qual­i­fi­ca­tion, includ­ing grades 4/C or above in GCSE Eng­lish, Maths. 

You will also need a DBS (Dis­clo­sure and Bar­ring Ser­vice) Cer­tifi­cate with no grounds that you are pro­fes­sion­al­ly unsuit­able to under­take pro­fes­sion­al prac­tice or place­ment. The Col­lege man­ages appli­ca­tions for a DBS, and we will con­tact you with the forms and guid­ance you require to com­plete this before you are due to start your course

Poten­tial Future Career

Suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course accrues UCAS points and a num­ber of major UK uni­ver­si­ties accept T Lev­els. Please see points achieved by grades below.

  • T Lev­el Dis­tinc­tion* = 168 UCAS Tar­iff Points = A*A*A* at A Level
  • T Lev­el Dis­tinc­tion = 144 UCAS Tar­iff Points = AAA at A Level
  • T Lev­el Mer­it = 120 UCAS Tar­iff Points = BBB at A Level
  • T Lev­el Pass (C or above) = 96 UCAS Tar­iff Points = CCC at A Level
  • T Lev­el Pass (D or E) = 72 UCAS Tar­iff Points = DDD at A Level

The 2‑year qual­i­fi­ca­tion brings class­room and work place­ment togeth­er, on a course designed with employ­ers and busi­ness­es, giv­ing you a licence to prac­tice in Ear­ly Years on com­ple­tion of the course.

Course Con­tent

This is an excit­ing new course that has a mix­ture of tech­ni­cal knowl­edge and work place­ment to give you the skills and expe­ri­ence you need to work with children. 

You will explore: 

  • Child devel­op­ment
  • Child­hood theories
  • Learn how to sup­port children’s devel­op­ment in ear­ly years and pri­ma­ry schools settings. 

The indus­try place­ment require­ment for this spe­cial­ism is a min­i­mum of 750 hours, where you will be assessed in real work sit­u­a­tions giv­ing you a licence to prac­tice in Ear­ly Years on com­ple­tion of the course.
