Course overview

The qual­i­fi­ca­tion is designed for learn­ers seek­ing the skills and knowl­edge need­ed to devel­op a busi­ness start-up and gives an under­stand­ing of the process­es and require­ments to cre­ate a business. 

Over half a mil­lion busi­ness­es are start­ed every year; how­ev­er, 30% of these fail with­in the first two years. Hav­ing a bet­ter under­stand­ing of the ini­tial process­es and require­ments of a busi­ness start-up can increase the chances of your busi­ness succeeding. 

If you’re look­ing to start your own busi­ness, or already have a busi­ness but want to devel­op and progress your busi­ness plan, this qual­i­fi­ca­tion will sup­port you with the skills and knowl­edge you need.

 

Entry Require­ments

You need to be aged 19 or over at the start of the cur­rent aca­d­e­m­ic year to be able to enrol on one of our Dis­tance Learn­ing cours­es. You will also need to be work­ing at or above Lev­el 1 in English. 

We will assess your lev­el of Eng­lish before we enrol you onto the course and can sign­post you to our Func­tion­al Skills Eng­lish cours­es to upskill if necessary.

To be award­ed the Lev­el 2 Cer­tifi­cate in Cre­at­ing a Busi­ness Start-Up, learn­ers are required to suc­cess­ful­ly com­plete 4 units: 

  • Unit 01 Ini­tial steps for a busi­ness start-up 
  • Unit 02 Mar­ket­ing for a busi­ness start-up 
  • Unit 03 Legal and finan­cial con­sid­er­a­tions when start­ing a business
  • Unit 04 How to devel­op a busi­ness plan
