Course overview
This qualification is designed for learners who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of supporting adults living with cancer and can be used for those who work in healthcare or for individuals providing informal care.
One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. For many individuals, diagnosis can be a daunting and overwhelming time. Being able to access the right levels of care and services provides valuable support when people need it most.
As cancer treatments are improved and more people survive cancer, an awareness of the impact of living with cancer long-term and knowledge of how to support individuals is vital for anyone caring for someone with cancer.
This short course is great CPD for those working in health and social care, but is also suitable for those who care for someone living with cancer.
Entry Requirements
You need to be aged 19 or over at the start of the current academic year to be able to enrol on one of our Distance Learning courses.
You will also need to be working at or above Level 1 in English.
We will assess your level of English before we enrol you onto the course and can signpost you to our Functional Skills English courses to upskill if necessary.

- Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support Services
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
Course Content
To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Cancer Support, learners are required to successfully complete 4 units:
- Unit 01 Cancer awareness
- Unit 02 Introduction to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer
- Unit 03 Introduction to cancer care and support
- Unit 04 Introduction to end of life and bereavement care
