Course overview

Cod­ing is what makes it pos­si­ble for any­one to cre­ate com­put­er soft­ware. Web­sites, apps, and social media are all made with code, it is a lan­guage that tells com­put­ers what action to per­form. This qual­i­fi­ca­tion is designed for any­one who is look­ing to gain an intro­duc­tion to cod­ing. As the world is evolv­ing dig­i­tal­ly and the dig­i­tal sec­tor is grow­ing, this course will give you an insight into the prin­ci­ples of cod­ing, and how cod­ing is used in prac­tice for soft­ware devel­op­ment.

This qual­i­fi­ca­tion is designed for learn­ers who are look­ing to gain an intro­duc­tion to cod­ing. It will sup­port the learn­er to progress into fur­ther study and sup­port those inter­est­ed in pro­gress­ing to employ­ment in a cod­ing or IT relat­ed role.
This qual­i­fi­ca­tion is suit­able for learn­ers aged 19 and above.

 

Entry Require­ments

You must be 19 or over to be able to apply for this course.

How The Course Will Be Assessed

Entry is at the dis­cre­tion of the Cen­tre. How­ev­er, learn­ers should be aged at least 16 to under­take the qualification.

There are no spe­cif­ic rec­om­mend­ed pri­or learn­ing require­ments for this qual­i­fi­ca­tion. How­ev­er, learn­ers may find it help­ful if they’ve already achieved a Lev­el 1 qualification.

Learn­ers who achieve this qual­i­fi­ca­tion could progress to:

  • NCFE Lev­el 3 Cer­tifi­cate in Cod­ing Practices
  • NCFE Lev­el 3 Cer­tifi­cate or Diplo­ma in IT User Skills
  • Lev­el 3 Cer­tifi­cate in Programming.

Course Con­tent

This qual­i­fi­ca­tion is designed for learn­ers who want to gain knowl­edge of cod­ing. The qual­i­fi­ca­tion may also sup­port pro­gres­sion into fur­ther study in cod­ing or oth­er top­ics with­in the dig­i­tal sector.
