Course overview
Learn the hands-on skills needed to install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial and domestic environments including: switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, fault current protection switches, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment, crime and fire alarm systems and renewable energy. You may also contribute to the design of electrical systems. You will be able to set out jobs from drawings and specifications, order the necessary installation materials and understand electrical safety.
What Does The Programme Include
You will be employed as an apprentice for at least 30 hours a week. You will have a workplace mentor or supervisor who will be responsible for your training and welfare at work. You will end college one day a week. An assessor will visit you in the workplace to assess your progress against standards and set SMART objectives.
Entry Requirements
Individual employers set their own entry requirements. However, you will require GCSEs English and maths at grades 4/C or above.
Applicants will also need to pass an industry aptitude test and a practical skills test.

Potential Future Career
As a fully competent Installation Electrician or Maintenance Electrician, you will meet the requirements needed to register on a Competent Person Scheme (CPS).
Studying Electro technical studies in the state-f-the-art environment means I can gain a career as an electrician in a lot less time!
