Course overview

Take your next steps to becom­ing a pro­fes­sion­al hair­dress­er and gain a high stan­dard of prac­ti­cal skills includ­ing cut­ting, colour­ing, client con­sul­ta­tion and blow dry­ing. You will have the oppor­tu­ni­ty to work along­side pres­ti­gious local salon own­ers and hair­dress­ing pro­fes­sion­als to devel­op advanced and mod­ern techniques.

 

What Does The Pro­gramme Include

You will learn through prac­ti­cal demon­stra­tions and prac­tice what you have learnt on real, pay­ing clients in our com­mer­cial salon.

Entry Require­ments

4 GCSEs at grades 3/D or above includ­ing Eng­lish and maths, or a rel­e­vant Lev­el 1 qual­i­fi­ca­tion and GCSE Eng­lish and maths at 3 or above.

We will review each appli­ca­tion on a case-by-case basis to ensure you get a place on the course most suit­able for you. 

One of the ways we do this is through a very effec­tive 6 weeks to suc­cess pro­gramme’ that oper­ates from the first day you start your course. This includes sup­port such as (but not lim­it­ed to):<?xml:namespace pre­fix = o” ns = urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

· Allow­ing you to change cours­es if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks ‑sub­ject to availability

· Mov­ing you between course lev­els if you are find­ing your cur­rent lev­el too easy / too hard, sub­ject to availability

· One-to-one reviews with your aca­d­e­m­ic tutor to ensure you are pro­gress­ing and achiev­ing well

How The Course Will Be Assessed

You will be assessed through prac­ti­cal obser­va­tions, online tests and oral ques­tions. You will also com­plete assign­ments to devel­op your the­o­ry knowledge.

Addi­tion­al Information

You will be required to pur­chase a kit and uni­form. Full details on how we can sup­port you with the pur­chase of kit and uni­form can be found on our Stu­dent Sup­port web pages.

You will also be required to source clients for prac­ti­cal learn­ing through­out the aca­d­e­m­ic year .

Poten­tial Future Career

On suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course, you will be able to progress to the Hair­dress­ing Diplo­ma Lev­el 3 or Lead, or Senior Hair Styl­ist Appren­tice­ship, or employment.
