Course overview

Gain an intro­duc­tion to hair­dress­ing whilst work­ing in our ful­ly-equipped salons. You will study basic hair­dress­ing tech­niques includ­ing: how to style wom­en’s and men’s hair, sham­poo and con­di­tion­ing, con­sul­ta­tion and cus­tomer service.

 

Entry Require­ments

There are no GCSE/​formal entry require­ments for this course. We will how­ev­er review each appli­ca­tion on a case-by-case basis to ensure you get a place on the course most suit­able for you.

One of the ways we do this is through a very effec­tive ​‘6 weeks to suc­cess pro­gramme’ that oper­ates from the first day you start your course. This includes sup­port such as (but not lim­it­ed to):

  • Allow­ing you to change cours­es if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks ‑sub­ject to availability 
  • Mov­ing you between course lev­els if you are find­ing your cur­rent lev­el too easy / too hard — sub­ject to availability 
  • Enrolling you on a GCSE or Func­tion­al Skills maths and Eng­lish pro­gramme along­side you main course 

Poten­tial Future Career

After suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course, you could progress onto the Hair­dress­ing Diplo­ma Lev­el 2 or could con­sid­er a Hair Pro­fes­sion­al Apprenticeship.

Course Con­tent

You will study the fol­low­ing units:

  • Styling and dress­ing hair
  • Cus­tomer service
  • Con­sul­ta­tion
  • Sham­poo­ing and conditioning
  • Health and Safety
  • Assist with colouring
  • Assist with recep­tion duties
  • Plait­ing hair

Course Trips

There maybe oppor­tu­ni­ties to vis­it Salon Inter­na­tion­al at Lon­don’s Excel where you can check out the lat­est devel­op­ments, get your hands-on new prod­ucts and see live demonstrations.You may also have the chance to get involved in com­pe­ti­tions such as the AHT (Asso­ci­a­tion of Hair­dressers & Ther­a­pists) Awards where the Col­lege have an envi­able rep­u­ta­tion for suc­cess, reg­u­lar­ly achiev­ing top places in the nation­al finals across mul­ti­ple categories.
