Practical Vs Theory
Course overview
Take your first steps to becoming a Hairdresser or Barber. You will learn how to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style and finish hair to create a variety of looks, and colour and lighten hair for ladies and men. You may also use barbering techniques and provide shaving services for men.
You will be able to work with all hair types ranging from straight hair to very curly, wiry hair; carry out consultations with clients; and demonstrate the professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills and safe working practices associated with your role.
What Does The Programme Include
You will be employed as an apprentice for at least 30 hours a week. You will have a workplace mentor or supervisor who will be responsible for your training and welfare at work. You will attend college for workshop sessions as required.
Entry Requirements
Individual employers set their own entry requirements. GCSE grade 4/C in English and maths is desirable but lower attainment will be considered.

How The Course Will Be Assessed
An assessor will visit you in the workplace to assess your progress against standards and set SMART objectives.
Potential Future Career
As a fully competent Hair Professional you can progress to a Senior Hairdresser or Senior Barber role and further your training with the Hair Professional Apprenticeship Level 3
