Course overview
Gain specific and transferable work skills whilst exploring careers in the service industries. You will undertake learning in a range of real and realistic working environments, including our on-site café and retail shop.
You will learn how to prepare, cook and serve a range of dishes and also learn other work-related tasks such as safe storage of food and cleaning food areas. You will also develop retail, customer service and business skills and undertake work experience in real catering and retail environments. This programme also includes sessions in English and maths, enrichment, tutorials, independence and supported study.
Entry Requirements
No formal qualification are required.
Potential Future Career
On completion of this course, you can progress to Employability Plus or Supported Internships. You could also progress to Pathways, which will allow you to make the transition to further learning in the main college environment.
Course Content
- Students will undertake learning in a range of real and realistic working environments, including our on-site café and retail shop.
- Students will learn how to prepare, cook and serve a range of dishes and also learn other work-related tasks.
- Students will develop retail, customer service and business skills and undertake work experience in real catering and retail environments.
- Students will be assessed on their progress throughout the year and will build an evidence portfolio.
- Includes sessions in English and maths enrichment, tutorials, independence and supported study.
- Functional Skills will involve tests at the appropriate level.
