Course overview

Gain an intro­duc­tion to the elec­tri­cal indus­try and devel­op the prac­ti­cal skills nec­es­sary to install elec­tri­cal equip­ment to an indus­try stan­dard. You will learn the basics about dif­fer­ent types of instal­la­tion elec­tri­cal instal­la­tion, wiring and ter­mi­na­tion, fab­ri­ca­tion tech­niques for elec­tri­cal instal­la­tions, and elec­tri­cal sci­ence and technology.

 

Entry Require­ments

4 GCSEs at grades 3/D or above includ­ing Eng­lish and maths, or Con­struc­tion Oper­a­tions Diplo­ma Lev­el 1.

We will review each appli­ca­tion on a case-by-case basis to ensure you get a place on the course most suit­able for you.<?xml:namespace pre­fix = o” ns = urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

One of the ways we do this is through a very effec­tive 6 weeks to suc­cess pro­gramme’ that oper­ates from the first day you start your course. This includes sup­port such as (but not lim­it­ed to):

· Allow­ing you to change cours­es if you change your mind in the first 6 weeks ‑sub­ject to availability

· Mov­ing you between course lev­els if you are find­ing your cur­rent lev­el too easy / too hard, sub­ject to availability

· One-to-one reviews with your aca­d­e­m­ic tutor to ensure you are pro­gress­ing and achiev­ing well

Poten­tial Future Career

On suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course you could progress to study the Elec­tri­cal Instal­la­tion Tech­ni­cal Cer­tifi­cate Lev­el 2 or to job roles such as an Instal­la­tion or Main­te­nance Elec­tri­cian Apprentice.

Course Con­tent

You will study the fol­low­ing units:

  • Struc­ture of the con­struc­tion industry
  • Fun­da­men­tal safe work­ing practices
  • Envi­ron­men­tal and sus­tain­abil­i­ty mea­sures in a domes­tic dwelling.
  • Site prepa­ra­tion for work­ing in the con­struc­tion industry
  • Elec­tri­cal instal­la­tion wiring and terminations
  • Fab­ri­ca­tion tech­niques for elec­tri­cal installation.
  • Elec­tri­cal sci­ence and technology
