Course overview
This course provides high-quality teacher training for practising and aspiring teachers and trainers in the education, training and skills sector, including further education and adult training.
The course will enable you to develop your effectiveness as a teacher and facilitate your self-development as a reflective practitioner with training that is flexible, supportive, challenging and rewarding.
The course offers a specialist English or mathematics strand if you wish to work specifically in these areas and you will require a Level 3 English or mathematics qualification (e.g. A‑level).
The course is delivered through a variety of methods and you will be encouraged to think critically and form a community of practice. Therefore discussion is a core element of the delivery, together with practical activities and seminar-based learning.
You will be encouraged to experiment with a range of delivery and assessment tools including digital techniques.
Developmental observations of your teaching by your tutor and mentor are an essential feature of the course and contribute to the overall assessment.
The courses at University Centre Peterborough are studied in smaller class sizes compared with other universities, a typical class size is under 30 students.
