Education, Training and Skills (Certificate/Professional Graduate Diploma)

This course pro­vides high-qual­i­ty teacher train­ing for prac­tis­ing and aspir­ing teach­ers and train­ers in the edu­ca­tion, train­ing and skills sec­tor, includ­ing fur­ther edu­ca­tion and adult training.

The course will enable you to devel­op your effec­tive­ness as a teacher and facil­i­tate your self-devel­op­ment as a reflec­tive prac­ti­tion­er with train­ing that is flex­i­ble, sup­port­ive, chal­leng­ing and rewarding.

The course offers a spe­cial­ist Eng­lish or math­e­mat­ics strand if you wish to work specif­i­cal­ly in these areas and you will require a Lev­el 3 Eng­lish or math­e­mat­ics qual­i­fi­ca­tion (e.g. A‑level).

The course is deliv­ered through a vari­ety of meth­ods and you will be encour­aged to think crit­i­cal­ly and form a com­mu­ni­ty of prac­tice. There­fore dis­cus­sion is a core ele­ment of the deliv­ery, togeth­er with prac­ti­cal activ­i­ties and sem­i­nar-based learning.

You will be encour­aged to exper­i­ment with a range of deliv­ery and assess­ment tools includ­ing dig­i­tal techniques.

Devel­op­men­tal obser­va­tions of your teach­ing by your tutor and men­tor are an essen­tial fea­ture of the course and con­tribute to the over­all assessment.

The cours­es at Uni­ver­si­ty Cen­tre Peter­bor­ough are stud­ied in small­er class sizes com­pared with oth­er uni­ver­si­ties, a typ­i­cal class size is under 30 students.

This qual­i­fi­ca­tion is award­ed by Bish­op Gros­seteste Uni­ver­si­ty and deliv­ered by Uni­ver­si­ty Cen­tre Peterborough.
