Mar­tin Bal­lard is the Group Envi­ron­ment Man­ag­er with Will­mott Dixon, where his role is to ensure sus­tain­able prac­tices and tar­gets set for busi­ness per­for­mance are being con­sis­tent­ly embed­ded and deliv­ered. He leads the envi­ron­men­tal dis­ci­pline on legal assur­ance, busi­ness audits for envi­ron­men­tal pro­tec­tion and pro­mo­tion of envi­ron­men­tal effi­cien­cy improve­ments, man­ag­ing Con­struc­tion Indus­try Train­ing Board (CITB) envi­ron­men­tal cours­es and improve­ments for the group’s Con­sid­er­ate Con­struc­tion recog­ni­tion. Mar­tin has held invest­ment pro­gram­ming, oper­a­tional and sup­ply chain roles with Anglian Water over fif­teen years, includ­ing audit and deliv­ery of envi­ron­men­tal improve­ments across East Anglia. Pre­vi­ous­ly, he worked in envi­ron­men­tal reg­u­la­tion across the South West of England.

Martin’s expe­ri­ence in the con­struc­tion sec­tor deliv­er­ing strate­gic stake­hold­er and sup­ply chain engage­ment includes out­comes such as: bio­di­ver­si­ty recog­ni­tion with the BIG Chal­lenge, water man­age­ment plan­ning; envi­ron­men­tal behav­iour­al prac­tices; and con­struc­tion lean engi­neer­ing for waste reduc­tion and sus­tain­able resource efficiency.

Beyond work, Mar­tin enjoys time with fam­i­ly and friends, singing with Stam­ford Choral (new mem­bers always wel­comed!), coach­ing rug­by with Stam­ford Rug­by club where his son plays and even enjoys ref­er­ee­ing (for fun-filled flow­ing games of rugby…).
